About Therapy

There are those times when life overwhelms you.

Stress, anxiety, and persistent sadness weigh heavily on your daily life.

Teens struggle with the pressures of school, peers, and identity.

Couples face the strain of broken communication, repeated conflicts, and lost trust.

And for many, trauma, abuse, and neglect create a sense of being stuck – unsure of how to move forward.

Therapy is a path forward.

It gives you the hope, purpose, and tools you need for a life that feels…

Steady.

Connected.

Meaningful.

It gives you space to face what feels impossible so you can heal and grow.

It’s about safety, clarity, and real change.

In our work together, you’ll have a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts and emotions.

You’ll start to notice patterns that keep you stuck, learning new strategies to handle stress, depression, or anxiety.

Couples repair communication, rebuild trust, and feel close again.

Teens and young adults gain tools to manage peer pressure, family struggles, and big emotions.

Healing also means facing and processing trauma at a pace that feels safe.

With the right support, you’ll move from surviving to thriving.

The support I provide is collaborative and tailored to your needs. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution.

We’ll set goals together, choose approaches that fit your needs, and move at a pace that works for you.

My job is to guide you, challenge you, and walk with you through the hard parts so you can experience the kind of personal growth and resilience that lasts.

You don’t have to carry this weight alone.

Whether you’re overwhelmed by stress, struggling in your relationships, or healing from painful past experiences, therapy can give you the tools and support you need.

I offer a complimentary consultation, allowing us to discuss your situation and explore how I can assist you.

About Doug Skierski, LPC, MA, EdS, JD

My professional journey shapes how I help clients today.

For more than 27 years, I practiced law… and spent 20 of those years as a mediator.

I saw firsthand the pressures professionals face and how poorly managed or ignored stress leads to burnout and personal setbacks.

That experience now informs how I help therapy clients navigate life’s challenges.

I specialize in helping people carry heavy burdens.

I work with professionals, adults, teens, and young adults facing trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship struggles, and trouble with substances.

I’ve also supported at-risk teens and adults coping with the lasting effects of abuse, neglect, compulsions, food and housing insecurity, and emotionally immature parents or partners.

My philosophy of service to others directs my work.

I believe in the power of strong counselor-client relationships and open communication.

When trust is established, clients feel secure enough to delve into the deeper issues beneath the surface and take meaningful steps toward change.

My role is to listen with compassion, offer honest feedback, and walk alongside you as you move toward healing and growth.

I draw on proven approaches and real-world experience.

I am EMDR-trained and use CBT, EMDR, and other evidence-based methods to help clients regulate stress, process trauma, and build healthier patterns.

My blend of professional and clinical experience enables me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, helping them overcome obstacles to growth and fulfillment – both personally and professionally.

Let me guide YOU toward the growth and fulfillment you’re looking for. Call (214) 295-9295 for your free, no-pressure consultation.
